Loan transferred after completing trial payments

My loan was with Shellpoint I was approved for loan modification in October 2021 first trial payment in November 2021 with 3rd and final trial payment made January 2022. The day after the last trial payment was  made the loan was sold to Selene. They now are not honoring the modification that shellpoint had drawn up. They accepted February 2022 payment, but now refuse to accept payment unless it’s certified funds for the entire amount previously delinquent prior to modification. They just sent me a new modification with payment 250.00 more than the modified payment thru shellpoint with a 60k balloon payment and want me to do another 3 month trial period. Giving me 3 days to respond or they are moving forward with foreclosure.  What they are doing is illegal and against the law. They are out of controll and need to be stopped. Filing complaints with my state’s attorney general in the morning and have a meeting with attorney in the afternoon. Think it’s time they get slapped with  a lawsuit. They pull this because they think that home owners don’t have the resources to do anything about it. It’s time the pay for their shady ways.

  1. I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for running this site. My friend is a senior citizen who was running into the Selene buzzsaw and I think you pretty much saved his home.

    He lost his job and got behind on payments. I called them and they told me so many lies in 5 minutes I was surprised they could cram them all in. That’s when I did a Google search and found your site.

    My immediate takeaways from reading your posts and comments: 1) never trust Selene; 2) only deal with them through your state attorney General or an attorney and 3) they are criminals who make more from swindling people than they will ever pay in penalties.

    Thanks to all the people who left comments too. Now my friend is working through the AG and we think we will be able to avoid foreclosure. Had we continued down the path of talking straight to Selene I am 100% sure within 2 weeks they would have foreclosed.

  2. Get an attorney well versed in mortgage litigation. All Selene Finance cares about it selling your property for a profit. Do not for one minute think these people will help you in any way. Ive ran this site for close to 9 years. I have read one heartbreaking story after another. Not to mention my own personal ordeal that lasted almost 7 years of dealing with these criminals.

    Selene Finance is on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s “most complained” list.

    Ill link to a post where an employee of Selene Finance (which I was able to verify from their Florida office) was mocking the users of this site. The user name was “Jane Doe” These are they type of people that work at Selene Finance

  3. I’m dealing with a similar situation right now. I had a loan mod approved with the previous mortgage company, and right as we were finalizing the mod, the loan got sold to Selene. Now Selene says they didn’t receive any documentation about the mod and are refusing to comply with the mod and asking us to restart the loan mod process with them all over again. I’m wanting to take action before we get to the point you described. Any tips?

  5. Thanks for your story. They pulled the same thing when they did my “loan mod”. They wanted the paper work back within 3 days which I had to Fedex overnight. Its obvious, they do that so you wont have time to contest or seek counsel. Please keep us posted with your progress.
